Nokia has quietly unveiled a slightly modified C5-00 yesterday. Quietly, because it hasn’t even put up an official press release announcing the new model – it just added the specs to its developer site and released a few pictures and a data sheet.
The Nokia C5-00 5MP is basically the C5-00 with a few things added, and a few others changed. First off, as its name implies, the phone has a 5 MP camera, whereas the C5-00 has a 3.2 MP unit. Both use the EDoF technology, and hence aren’t autofocus, but ‘full focus’ as Nokia likes to call them.
The new C5-00 5MP also has double the RAM of its predecessor (256 MB and not 128 MB), and more internal storage space (270 MB and not 50 MB). The C5-00 5MP is, at 95 grams, also a bit heavier than the C5-00 which weighs 89.3 grams.

Everything else about this device has stayed the same, including the fact that it runs Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 (S60 3.2.2). The Nokia C5-00 5MP is going to be available sometime in the third quarter of this year, which means before the end of September. It’s possible that it will replace the C5-00 and sell for the same price, which, with the new specs, makes this device great value for money if for some reason you’d like a ‘classic’ Nokia candybar and don’t like touchscreens.
Here’s a quick refresher of the other specs of the C5-00, now the C5-00 5MP: it has a 2.2-inch 240×320 screen, GPS, Bluetooth, a 3.5 mm headset jack, an FM radio, quad-band GSM, dual-band WCDMA (900/2100) with 10.2 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA, and a 1050 mAh battery.
